A strange week

This has been a strange week. I started a new job on Wednesday in a jewellery store. I can appreciate that if there are customers in the shop its not very professional to stand around chatting to a fellow worker but these people took it to the next level. I was there for seven hours and not one co-worker made polite conversation with me nor did they speak to each other. At closing time I was out of there, never to return . Their attitude towards their customers was not a lot better.Needless to say I will not be shopping there in the future. Nasty people. I have already applied for more jobs ,I will be keeping my eyes open at the interviews for any sigh of strangeness.

My lovely husband is making a good recovery from a mild dose of swine flu ( I know he has been ill cos he hasn't complained once) .

Next week I will try and make a card everyday and take part in lots of challenges.

Pink ,orange and green

Colour create challenge 24. I have to say I struggled with one,but like all you fellow crafters out there I had to do something. The little cloche hat was all I could think of. The text down the side was done with "Wide Latin " font. The green stems on the flower are done with florist wire and a few beads. Not my favourite colour combo .

Lets get fruity

This was my first attempt at challenge 71.A bit of a disaster ,we all have bad mojo days.Thankfully I liked my second attempt the lemon tree much better.

Lets get fruity

Cute card Thursday challenge 71.
Loved this one as it gave me chance to use up some of the things I had planned to throw away last week. The stock card for this has a slightly gritty texture,a bit like fine sandpaper. The tag and tree were hand cut from a brown envelope ( I couldn't find anything else in my scraps ).I cut a half circle from a yellow and white flowered textured paper ,defined the edges with a yellow marker pen and then very carefully cut thin strips of white paper for the ribs and a further half circle in white which I trimmed down to make the pith effect round the edges. Once I had the idea it took about 30 minutes to assemble which is quick for me.

Take your pick colour combi

PWC this week is a fab challenge to use as many or as few of these colours pink, black, white, yellow, green, grey and lilac.I have used a baby themed scrapbook paper for a background,a little die cut bear ( to make the inside of the ears and paws use the circles from a hole punch) .The frosted brads tie all the colours together ,the green writing on the paper doesn't shown up too well. A pink accent gem tops it off.

Eye Eye

CCT challenge 70 . I never seem to make many card for men, eyelets are perfect for a random, rough effect. The edges of the card are inked ,the two papers are from Smart Craft ,the colours are a bit pale on here ,the real deal is much darker and ties in perfectly with the bubble peeloffs from Castro Crafts.

Weekend in Melbourne

I have just spent 3 days in Melbourne with my lovely husband Steve. I often watch Millionaire Hot Seat on TV, two weeks ago I correctly answered all the questions and would have won 250K. Time for action, no more couch junkie. I answered questions online and was successfully through to the next round. Round two was a trip to Melbourne where a further 30 questions had to be answered ( don't worry you don't have to get them all right ). A questionnaire and you're almost done ,then the scary bit where you sit in front of the camera and talk for 2 minutes.Who knows if I will be chosen ,the next two weeks will tell. I'll let you know what happens.

If nothing else the trip gave us the chance to indulge in food we don't get in Tasmania. Asian crispy skinned duck and chicken ,red cooked pork and a very good goat curry which we had in a small Bangladeshi restaurant.

Its either black or white

I think I might have to try harder with the camera. Scanning the cards does not show off all the details.I hand cut the white paper into zigzags then hand punched holes down one side.Into each point I stuck a tiny rhinestone by Kaiser and punched a circle of tiny holes around. The silver snowflake charm comes in a pack of six from Artoz .The ladder backing foil was given to me by a fellow crafter so origin unknown.

Nightfall

Yes I know it's only July but if you are intending to give the cards to charity then you have to start early . The black peel off Bethlehem silhouette is a good old favourite, the background I have painted myself . I wet the paper slightly and then ran across with pink and purple paint letting it run into each other.Peel off Merry Christmas completes the card.

Baby its cold outside

Cute card Thurday challenge. This card was made using paper that has a knitted look about it,unfortunately I don't know where it came from .Hot off the Press rings a bell. The silver snowflakes and stars are punched from silver foil.

Angel kisses

. Its hard to know if this is a very elegant fairy or an angel .The white background is embossed and the angel is decoupage. Angel or fairy I think she is lovely. My very kind friend Lyndsey sent this to me for my Birthday.

Christmas

C.R.A.F.T. challenge 9. I love to make cards in unusual shapes. I love the colour combo for this one but have no idea where the papers came from. The sequins and beads are sewn on the front cos I get in such a mess with glue.

So Sad

Friday Sketchers challenge 60 .This is the 5th attempt to post this rather sweet little card. I keep missing bits off, then it 's too pale so I have had to put some dark card behind it. The distressed background papers were free with Craft Beautiful magazine and I have had them for ages. The little image is from precious moments and one of my favourites.

Hello dolly

This was a difficult challenge.Dolls and churches spring to mind when I think of Russia. I was lucky enough to spend 2 weeks there on holiday. It's a beautiful and colourful country with a rich and interesting history.

Truly Scrumptious challenge

Sorry about the photo quality. The red stamping on the paper looks a lot paler than it is. The stamp is from Lucy's Stamps and the black and white paper from American crafts.
I've made the card for my friend Sue who lives in South Australia .

Wednesday 8th July
Its my first day on the Blog. My purple haze above is also my first challenge.I have taken the layout from Truly Scrumptious challenge 10, unfortunately I missed the deadline to send in my entry. This is all new to me and things can only get better. Back to the drawing board or in my case the craft table.
